Blossom Rock’s new Executive Director is a familiar face with a fresh perspective. After serving as Director of Operations, Sarah Brown steps into her new role with strong community connections, a people-first approach and a commitment to helping Blossom Rock grow thoughtfully.
Originally from Boston, Sarah traded snowy winters and tricky parking for Arizona sunshine. She’s been with Cohere for more than four years and values the everyday conversations that help neighbors feel connected and heard. We caught up with Sarah to learn more about her background, her priorities for Blossom Rock and what her perfect Arizona day looks like.
Tell us a little about yourself! Where did you grow up, and what brought you to Arizona?
I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, and came to Arizona for the beautiful weather — and, if I’m being honest, the easier parking! I’ve loved getting to know Arizona and making it home.
You’ve been with Cohere for more than four years. Can you share a little about your journey and what led you to community management?
Before joining Cohere, I worked in portfolio management, where I gained experience working with multiple communities. What drew me to Cohere was its people-first approach to both residents and employees. I wanted a role where I could do more than focus on numbers and rules. I wanted the opportunity to truly connect with community members and stakeholders and be part of creating a place people are proud to call home.
I also love the variety that comes with community management. From operations and landscaping to communications and events, no two days are quite the same, and there’s always something new to learn.
How has your experience as Blossom Rock’s Director of Operations prepared you for the Executive Director role?
As Director of Operations, I had the opportunity to work closely with our team, residents, board members, and community partners while learning the many details that keep Blossom Rock running. That experience gave me a strong understanding of our community’s needs and how our departments work together. It also showed me how important it is to plan ahead while staying responsive to what residents need today.
What’s a favorite moment or memory from your time in the community so far?
It’s hard to choose just one! I’ve loved seeing neighbors come together at community events and meeting residents during their warm welcome tours, often as they’re settling into their new homes and beginning a new chapter. Our leadership class has also been especially meaningful because it’s given me the chance to get to know residents, learn alongside them, and see their passion for the community.
As Blossom Rock continues to grow, what are your priorities for the community?
One of my biggest priorities is planning thoughtfully for Blossom Rock’s growth while continuing to provide a welcoming, well-maintained community and a consistent resident experience. I also want to listen to residents as we shape opportunities to connect, whether that’s through events, workshops, or other programs that reflect their interests. As more people make Blossom Rock home, I want us to grow in a way that supports both the community’s needs and the connections that make it feel special.
What can residents expect from your leadership style and approach to communication?
I hope residents find me approachable and easy to talk to. I believe in listening, communicating with care, and being accountable for following through. I also think it’s important to be professional while still being relatable — we’re all working together to make Blossom Rock a wonderful place to call home.
Just for fun: If you could plan your perfect Arizona day off, what would it include?
My perfect day would start slowly with a cup of coffee while watching the sun rise, followed by a hike and a swim. I’d finish with dinner on the grill and some time outside watching the sun set.
Please join us in congratulating Sarah on her new role! Send her a note to share your well wishes as she begins this next chapter at Blossom Rock.
