Apache Junction Burro Derby and Prospector Play Day

Celebrate one of Apache Junction’s most beloved traditions at the 67th Annual Burro Derby and Prospector Play Day, hosted by Apache Junction Parks & Recreation at Prospector Park.

The Burro Derby features an approximately 5-mile course that’s flat, fast, and scenic—perfect whether racers are charging ahead or taking their time to enjoy the views. The race begins at 10:30 a.m. for registered participants.

Starting at 11 a.m., festivities kick off on the northeast side of Prospector Park with Prospector Play Day, offering games, crafts, and family-friendly activities. Attendees may even have the chance to meet some of the friendlier burros who participated in the race.

The celebration continues with the February Concert in the Park, beginning at 12:30 p.m. and running until 2 p.m., featuring live country hits and classics from Reign N’ Country. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy an afternoon of live music in the park.

This event is free, open to all ages, and no registration is required.
